The Space Shuttle Discovery

I have to brag on my brother for a minute because I am super proud of him. He is going through a rough time in his personal life right now, so pray for him. In his work life, he is doing great! He works for NASA. Yes, Justin. works. for. NASA! He is the crew chief for the Boeing 747 that transports the space shuttle. He landed in Amarillo in 2007 when they transported the shuttle, Atlantis, and I was able to get a personal tour. Yesterday, he landed in Amarillo with the shuttle, Discovery, and Rusty got the personal tour. Here are a few pictures from that tour.

This is the Pathfinder. It flies about 20 minutes ahead of the shuttle to ensure the route and flying conditions are favorable. This is also where the crew, flight engineers, extra pilots, astronauts (and sometimes Buzz Lightyear) fly because only the two pilots and a flight engineer can fly in the shuttle carrier because they don't want too much weight. That shuttle is pretty heavy, I guess. :)

This is a picture of the Atlantis when it landed in 2007.

Yeah for a post! That is so neat that your brother gets to do that.
